bankov poster school
To mark the 5-year anniversary of the School of Peter Bankov, designers Mikhail Lychkovskiy and Anastasia Temirkhan are proud to launch a heartfelt creative tribute. Much like the film "Paris, je t’aime", our motion poster anthology brings together 12 graphic designers — all alumni of Peter Bankov’s School. Some teamed up with motion designers, while others animated their own visions, each crafting a unique 8-second poster. No clients. No briefs. No limits. Just pure design freedom and gratitude. Each piece is a personal ode, a moving image, and a moment of reflection — all celebrating the mentor who shaped our creative paths: Peter Bankov, renowned Czech-based designer and AGI member, whose influence echoes through poster biennali from Toyama to Chaumont. For one week — from June 23 to 29 — the project was displayed every hour in the iconic Times Sq in NYC. These animated posters are not only creative works, but living thank-yous, pulsing with the energy Peter taught us to channel into our craft. Join us in this moving celebration — a shared thank you letter from students to mentor, from motion to memory. The composition features a vivid collision of red, blue, green, and black, anchored by large-scale typography "Where ideas run free & wild" that cuts across the layout. Sweeping black brushstrokes slash through the letters, suggesting raw creative momentum and artistic defiance. Origami red horses — these folded figures symbolize energy, drive, and transformation — visual metaphors for the unstoppable force of ideas in motion. The horses charge across the design, echoing the intense pace and experimental spirit that defines the Bankov school philosophy. Adding cultural depth, the poster includes bold Chinese characters (師傳), meaning “master” or “mentor,” grounding the piece in a sense of tradition while celebrating the transmission of knowledge across cultures and generations.
