christmas eve
I made the series of posters as part of the "Poster every day" challenge launched in a difficult time in Russia by Anna Ganna in 2022. The story behind this poster related to my memories about my grandma Katyusha, who used to read me Nikolaj Gogol’s collection of short stories “Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka”. This was one of our family traditions close to Christmas Eve. One Christmas, my mother-in-law was getting the table ready with some super cute Christmas napkins. An idea came to me to combine one into a poster the fabulous story “Christmas Eve” with a napkin folded into a polygon, to which I added a sort of “Christmas message” to Santa. I wanted to add a personal, almost child-like touch to an idea inspired by my mother in law napkin’s habit. I am glad that this poster was selected for "Golden Bee 16" biennale.
