design summer

I made this poster in Anna Kulachek’s class as a part of the cultural program “Design Summer” in Hangzhou organised by Jumping He. I was impressed by Chinese nature, architecture and hieroglyphics. So, I tried to find a way to combine two different cultures, west and east, traditions new and old till I found this solution: a “weave” font and hieroglyphics that together are perceived like bamboo. Bamboo is considered a symbol of loyalty, resilience and flexibility in Chinese culture. It is my message for students to take advantage of all learning opportunities presented to them in life.
