il Trittico
I made this conceptual poster for Il Trittico by Giacomo Puccini at the Opéra Bastille. A vivid yellow background is violently disrupted by sweeping strokes of black paint that slash across the composition, evoking both chaos and concealment. These brushstrokes feel almost feral—like the emotional outbursts of the opera itself—tearing through the brightness, silencing parts of the scene with expressive violence. Through this storm of pigment and movement, monumental red numerals—“1”, “2”, and “3”—emerge like echoes, symbolizing the triptych structure of Puccini’s operatic masterpiece. The number "3," half-consumed by darkness, takes on the form of a silhouette—less a digit than a shadow of finality, hinting at the closing arc of a three-part journey.
