I recently completed a graphic identity for the artist Nadim Karam's solo exhibition in Beirut inaugurated on April 27 2024. This included the exhibit design panels, captions, etc, the catalogue, poster, web invites and social posts. I concentrated on the core idea and visuals from the 1001 characters represented in the artist's artworks. I relied on the words and vision of the curator Nayla Tamraz, who presented a compelling explanation of Nadim's style and artistic journey in the catalogue's foreword. I like that the white silhouettes are a place for imagination, as white does not convey a mood, and you can «fill» these silhouettes with meaning by visiting the exhibit or exploring the catalogue. I took different sheets of paper, cut out the shape of each character and finally found a composition with these sheets, the vertical format hints at his sketchbooks used in Nadeem's watercolour works. This was also my first catalogue in three languages: English, Arabic and French.
