le corbousier
As a graphic designer, I was invited to come up with a new ceramic tile pattern and design posters for Kerama Marazzi, a leading player in the ceramic tile sector in Europe. Since the collection was to be part of a broader theme called “Dreams of Paris”, I found inspiration in the works of architect and experimentalist Le Corbusier. I looked through his works and projects, various photo materials from different countries, and came across the planimetry of Villa Savoye in Poissy, France. Inspired on this and eight more projects of Le Corbusier, I revisited the buildings’ characteristics into essential lines, shapes and silhouettes to create a series of versatile ceramic tile patterns that can be combined together in the same space. The poster is also based on a similar principle, with a square as main shape, inside which various geometric shapes and letters are the result of a simplification process from the Villa’s planimetry: each letter and geometric shape corresponds to a room or a specific space of Le Corbusier’s project. These posters were selected and exhibited in the 11th CIPB 2023 held by China Academy of Art. Font used: Druk text by type.today
