fondamenta degli incurabili
This relates to my ceramic tile & posters design work for the Kerama Marazzi collection dedicated to Venice. I wanted the collection to reflect my style - I am partial to black & white graphics as well as strong geometries. At the same time, I wished to convey how I saw Venice in my first visit: a cloudy day, with winter around the corner. All the colours of the city faded, the rain made the wet buildings even more expressive against the background of the water surface. It was at that moment, contemplating the surroundings, that almost out of nowhere came to my memory the stories of Joseph Brodsky, who used to come especially during winter in Venice because of the special atmosphere he felt. My poster series and ceramic tiles aim to show a Venice that is ephemeral and changeable, influenced by the viewer’s past experiences. Font used: Fugue by Radim Pesko
