chair 11
I developed the logo based on the iconic form of the chair — this shape became the foundation of the typography and set the overall character of the visual system. Following that, I proceeded to work on the chair itself. Inspired by culture and tradition, Chair 11 was combined with a contemporary form, resulting in a harmonious collaboration with the wonderful furniture brand — Garagegage. Korea is a country of remarkable contrasts, where skyscrapers rise against the backdrop of Buddhist temples, where traditional hanbok coexists with casual clothing, and where folk music meets K-pop. For this reason, I wanted to merge the modern silhouette of the chair with a folk ornament. Continuing the idea of lightness, I turned to the motif of clouds. I proposed a four-color palette that I frequently encountered in Korean temples during my travels. I also suggested giving consumers the option to choose different colors for the left and right sides of the chair, thereby allowing them to personalize the product and make it truly their own.
